Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and prepare your cooking area.
  2. In a large skillet, combine 2 tablespoons of olive oil and 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter over medium heat. Add in 2 large sliced sweet onions and sauté for about 20 minutes until caramelized.
  3. Pour in ½ cup of white wine to deglaze the pan, stirring to scrape up any browned bits. Simmer for about 2 minutes. Add 1 teaspoon of fresh minced thyme and 2 cups of beef broth, stirring gently.
  4. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer for about 5 minutes. Fold in 1 pound of gnocchi and cook for an additional 5-10 minutes until tender.
  5. Transfer the gnocchi mixture into a greased baking dish and sprinkle 1 ½ cups of shredded cheese on top.
