Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine hoisin sauce, soy sauce, honey, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, minced garlic, Chinese five-spice powder, and sesame oil. Whisk until well-blended.
- Place the chicken thighs into a resealable plastic bag, pour half the prepared marinade over them, seal the bag tightly, and massage the marinade into the meat. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, ideally overnight.
- Let the chicken rest at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking.
- Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and arrange the marinated chicken thighs on it, spaced out for even cooking.
- Bake the chicken in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until it reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) and the juices run clear.
- While the chicken is baking, pour the reserved marinade into a small saucepan and simmer over medium heat for about 10 minutes until it thickens slightly.
- After the chicken is cooked, brush the thickened marinade over it and broil for 2-3 minutes for a charred finish.
- Allow the chicken to rest for a few minutes before slicing.
- Slice the Char Siu Chicken and serve hot with steamed jasmine rice and stir-fried vegetables.

Notes
For best flavor, marinate the chicken overnight and watch closely while broiling to prevent burning.
