Ingredients
  

For the Gnocchi
  • 1 package Gnocchi Consider gluten-free if desired.
For the Cheese Sauce
  • 4 tablespoons Butter Can substitute with olive oil.
  • 4 tablespoons Flour All-purpose flour or cornstarch.
  • 2 cups Milk Whole milk or almond milk.
  • 2 cups Cheese Shredded blend of cheddar and gouda.
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder Fresh garlic can be used.
  • 1 teaspoon Onion Powder Fresh minced onion is an alternative.
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper
For the Topping
  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs Try panko for extra crunch.

Method
 

Cooking Instructions
  1. Boil a large pot of salted water over high heat. Add the gnocchi and cook for 2-3 minutes until they float. Drain and set aside.
  2. Melt 4 tablespoons of butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in 4 tablespoons of flour and stir for 1-2 minutes until golden.
  3. Gradually whisk in 2 cups of milk, stirring for 5-7 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  4. Mix in 1 teaspoon each of garlic and onion powder, along with salt and pepper. Stir in the cheese until melted.
  5. Fold the cooked gnocchi into the cheese sauce until evenly coated.
  6. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and spread the gnocchi mixture in a greased baking dish.
  7. Sprinkle with extra cheese and breadcrumbs. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden and bubbling.
