Dough Preparation
- In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, salt, turmeric, and cumin, mixing well to distribute the spices. Gradually add water, little by little, while stirring until a smooth, pliable dough forms.
- Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until it's soft and elastic, then cover it with a damp cloth and let it rest for 10 minutes.
Shaping
- Divide the dough into small, golf ball-sized pieces. Use a rolling pin to flatten each piece into a circle approximately 6 inches in diameter. Cut each circle into quarters to create triangles.
Frying
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan over medium heat; a good testing temperature is between 350°F and 375°F. Gently slide the triangles into the hot oil, frying for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown.
Draining
- Use a slotted spoon to remove the fried triangles from the oil and let them drain on paper towels to absorb excess oil.
