- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef and chopped onions for 5-7 minutes.
- Wash and slice potatoes into thin rounds, about 1/8-inch thick.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the crockpot, followed by half of the beef, then half of the cheddar cheese. Repeat the layers.
- Whisk together cream of mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper, and pour over the layered ingredients.
- Cook on low for 6 to 8 hours.
- About 15 minutes before serving, sprinkle remaining cheddar cheese on top and let it melt.
