Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef and chopped onions for 5-7 minutes.
  2. Wash and slice potatoes into thin rounds, about 1/8-inch thick.
  3. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the crockpot, followed by half of the beef, then half of the cheddar cheese. Repeat the layers.
  4. Whisk together cream of mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper, and pour over the layered ingredients.
  5. Cook on low for 6 to 8 hours.
  6. About 15 minutes before serving, sprinkle remaining cheddar cheese on top and let it melt.
