Method

Making Chai Cinnamon Rolls
  1. In a medium bowl, combine warm milk, granulated sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add egg, melted butter (reserve some), ground cinnamon, ground cardamom, ground ginger, ground cloves, ground nutmeg, and salt to the yeast mixture. Gradually stir in flour until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough for 7-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place it in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour.
  4. Once risen, punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle. Brush with reserved butter, sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon, then roll tightly and slice into 12 rolls.
  5. Place sliced rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for an additional 30 minutes.
  6. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 25 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Whisk powdered sugar and milk until smooth, then drizzle over warm rolls.
