For the Base
  • 2 sheets puff pastry Thaw completely before using.
  • 12 slices deli ham Substitute turkey for a lighter option or omit for vegetarian versions.
  • 12 slices cheese (cheddar, gouda, Swiss, or mozzarella) Using a firmer cheese helps reduce leakage.
  • 24 units wooden skewers To support the trees; toothpicks can be used but may lack stability.
For the Optional Garlic Butter Glaze
  • 4 tbsp melted butter Swap for olive oil for a lighter glaze.
  • 2 tsp minced garlic Fresh garlic provides more potent flavor.
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley Dried parsley may be substituted.
  • sprinkle of sesame or poppy seeds Optional, but adds extra crunch.

  • baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Knife or Pizza Cutter
  • Wooden skewers
  • small bowl

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions for HAM & CHEESE PUFF PASTRY CHRISTMAS TREES
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out one sheet of thawed puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Layer with six slices of cheese, followed by six slices of ham, and then add the second sheet of pastry on top.
  3. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, slice the layered pastry into 1-inch wide strips.
  4. Take one pastry strip and fold it back and forth onto a wooden skewer, looping the pastry to create a tree shape. Repeat this process with the remaining strips.
  5. In a small bowl, combine melted butter, minced garlic, and chopped parsley to create a savory glaze. Brush this mixture over the tops of your assembled trees.
  6. Place your baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 20–25 minutes until puffy and golden brown.
  7. Let the trees cool slightly on a wire rack before serving. Serve warm or at room temperature.
