- In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey or brown sugar, rice vinegar, water, ginger, and garlic until well combined. Set aside.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken, seasoned with salt and pepper, and cook for 5-7 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
- Pour the teriyaki sauce over the chicken, stirring gently to coat. Cook for 2 minutes to allow the sauce to warm and infuse the flavors.
- Lower the heat and mix cornstarch with water until smooth. Add this to the skillet and stir continuously for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Remove from heat and garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions. Serve hot over rice or noodles.
