  • 1/4 cup Minced Fresh Chives Optional; substitute with green onions.
  • 3/4 cup Whole Milk, cold

Step-by-Step Instructions for Ham and Cheese Scones
  1. Grate the very cold unsalted butter into a bowl and freeze for about 10 minutes.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, kosher salt, and garlic powder.
  3. Fold in the shredded cheddar cheese, chopped ham, and minced chives to the mixture.
  4. Slowly drizzle in the cold whole milk and combine gently until a shaggy dough forms.
  5. Transfer the dough to a floured surface, pat into an 8-inch round circle, and cut into 8 wedges.
  6. Place shaped scones on a parchment-lined baking sheet and freeze while preheating the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  7. Brush the tops with milk and sprinkle on extra cheese or chives if desired.
  8. Bake the scones for 20 to 24 minutes until golden brown and flaky.
  9. Cool on a rack for a few minutes and serve warm.
