Step-by-Step Instructions for Blackberry Lemonade
- In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of fresh blackberries, 1 cup of granulated sugar, and 1 cup of water over medium-high heat. Cook for about 10 minutes, mashing the blackberries with a fork until it thickens. Remove from heat, strain to discard solids, and let it cool. Stir in vanilla extract if desired.
- While the syrup cools, squeeze about 6 fresh lemons until you have 1 cup of lemon juice. Mix the lemon juice with 4 cups of cold water in a large pitcher, and adjust water for preferred tartness.
- Once the blackberry syrup has cooled, pour it into the pitcher with the lemonade base. Stir thoroughly to combine and adjust sweetness with additional syrup if necessary.
- Fill tall glasses with ice and pour the blackberry lemonade over, garnishing with fresh mint or lemon slices before serving.
