Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Prepare the chocolate cake by baking it according to the recipe or package directions. Allow to cool completely on a wire rack for about 30 minutes to ensure clean layers.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine heavy cream and sugar. Whip on medium speed until soft peaks form for about 3-5 minutes. Set aside in the refrigerator to keep chilled.
  3. Layer the trifle by breaking chocolate cake into chunks at the bottom of a trifle dish. Top with whipped cream and cherries. Repeat until all ingredients are used, finishing with whipped cream on top.
  4. Garnish the trifle with chocolate shavings and fresh cherries on top for a festive touch.
  5. Cover the assembled trifle with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for at least 2-4 hours to meld flavors.
