Step-by-Step Instructions for Pickle Grilled Cheese Sandwich
  1. Begin by patting the sliced dill pickles dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
  2. In a small bowl, combine 4 ounces of cream cheese with 2 tablespoons of ranch dressing. Mix until smooth and creamy.
  3. In another bowl, mix together 1/2 teaspoon each of garlic powder and onion powder, along with 1/4 teaspoon of kosher salt.
  4. Place a large cast-iron skillet over medium-low heat, allowing it to warm for a couple of minutes.
  5. Spread a generous layer of the cream cheese mixture on two slices of sourdough bread. Layer the dried pickles and the cheese on top.
  6. Spread 1.5 tablespoons of unsalted butter on the outside of each sandwich and sprinkle with the spice mixture.
  7. Carefully place the assembled sandwiches in the heated skillet and cook for 3-5 minutes, until the bottom is golden brown.
  8. Cook the flipped sandwiches for an additional 3-5 minutes, checking for melty cheese and a lovely golden brown color.
