Preparation Steps
  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together 1 cup of pumpkin puree, 3 large eggs, 1 cup of milk, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, ½ teaspoon of ground nutmeg, ½ teaspoon of ground ginger, and a pinch of salt until smooth. Add 2 tablespoons of brown sugar if desired.
  2. Allow the pumpkin batter to sit for about 5 minutes.
  3. Place a skillet over medium heat and add 2 tablespoons of butter, allowing it to melt.
  4. Carefully dip each bread slice into the pumpkin spice batter for about 10 seconds.
  5. Cook the soaked bread slices in the heated skillet for approximately 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  6. Stack the cooked Pumpkin French Toast slices on a serving plate. Drizzle with maple syrup, and sprinkle with powdered sugar and chopped nuts.
