Ingredients
  

For the Meatballs
  • 1 lb Ground Beef or Turkey/Chicken or plant-based alternative
  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs use gluten-free breadcrumbs if needed
  • 1 large Egg substitute with 1 tbsp flaxseed meal + 3 tbsp water for vegan version
  • 3 cloves Garlic minced
For the Sauce
  • 1/4 cup Soy Sauce tamari or coconut aminos for gluten-free option
  • 1/4 cup Honey maple syrup is a great vegan alternative
  • 2 tbsp Rice Vinegar
  • 1 tbsp Cornstarch for thickening the sauce; arrowroot can be substituted
  • 2 tbsp Water to combine with cornstarch
For Garnish
  • 2 tbsp Sesame Seeds
  • 2 stalks Sliced Green Onions

Method
 

Cooking Steps
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, minced garlic, soy sauce, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix gently and form into 1-inch meatballs.
  2. Heat a tablespoon of oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Sear the meatballs for about 2–3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  3. In the same skillet, lower the heat and add honey, soy sauce, remaining minced garlic, and rice vinegar. Whisk until combined and simmer for about 2 minutes.
  4. Return the meatballs to the skillet. Stir together cornstarch and water to create a slurry, then add this to the pan. Cook for another 2–3 minutes until sauce thickens.
  5. Remove from heat and garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions before serving.
