  • 1/4 cup Honey or brown sugar; can substitute with maple syrup or agave
For Flavor Boost
  • 1 tablespoon Paprika use smoked paprika for added flavor
  • 1 teaspoon Cayenne Pepper adjust to taste
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric optional
  • 1 teaspoon Salt sea salt recommended

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. In a medium bowl, combine equal parts yellow and brown mustard seeds with water and apple cider vinegar. Soak for 12 to 24 hours.
  2. Mix together paprika, cayenne pepper, turmeric, and salt in a small bowl for the spice blend. Set aside.
  3. Drain the soaked mustard seeds and transfer to a saucepan. Add the vinegar mixture and your sweetener.
  4. Cook the mixture over medium-low heat for about 10 minutes, stirring constantly.
  5. Blend the mixture until desired texture is achieved. If too thick, add water or vinegar as needed.
  6. Allow the mustard to cool, then transfer to a clean jar and refrigerate for at least 24 hours before using.
